Dana Wallet: Mobile Bitcoin Wallet for Silent Payments Pre-Released on Android

Dana Wallet, a privacy-focused mobile app for Bitcoin donations, has officially launched its first public release, version v0.1.0-alpha. The wallet, developed by user "cygnet3," is built with the silent payments protocol, which allows users to accept Bitcoin payments while preserving on-chain privacy. The pre-release version is now available for download as an APK file for Android devices.
The Dana Wallet app, currently in its early v0.1.0-alpha stage, supports Bitcoin mainnet, testnet3, and signet, with a strong recommendation to use signet—a test environment—given the experimental nature of the release. A faucet is available through the project’s official site to help users acquire signet funds for testing.
"For now, we STRONGLY recommend against using mainnet unless you are willing to accept the risk of losing your funds. If you do, please back up your seed phrase. We are not responsible for lost funds," the development team stated. This caution emphasizes the pre-release status of the wallet, which is still under active development.
Silent payments, a relatively new Bitcoin protocol, allow users to receive funds without publicly exposing their wallet addresses on the blockchain, enhancing privacy for both senders and recipients. Dana Wallet is designed for accepting occasional payments, such as Bitcoin donations, in a manner that shields user identities.
This pre-release features three assets, including the APK download (26.8 MB), with updates and commits to the source code ongoing. The project continues to be community-driven and open-source, with code and releases accessible for download.
Dana Wallet marks an early milestone in Bitcoin privacy tools, offering users a glimpse of the potential future of private, decentralized financial applications that prioritize security and anonymity for all participants.
