Bitdeer Announces Auction for Antminer S19 Units and Plans SEALMINER A1 Deployment in Norway

Bitdeer, a major player in Bitcoin mining, hosting, and cloud mining, is set to auction 2,880 units of used Antminer S19 miners as part of its post-Bitcoin halving fleet upgrade. The auction will take place from September 24 to 26, with starting bids at $1 per terahash per second (TH/s), equating to a total starting price of $270,000 for the equipment. The machines, procured between late 2020 and mid-2021, are located in Bitdeer's facility in Tydal, Norway.

These Antminer S19s have a combined nameplate hashrate of 270 petahashes per second (PH/s), though current performance shows a real-time hashrate of 250 PH/s, about 8% below their stated capacity. With an efficiency of 30 joules per terahash (J/TH), the units are estimated to break even with a power price of $0.055 per kilowatt-hour in the current Bitcoin mining market, where the hashprice sits around $40 per PH/s.

The auction aligns with Bitdeer’s broader strategy to modernize its operations, including the planned deployment of its proprietary SEALMINER A1 miners at the Tydal facility. The SEALMINER A1 features advanced Texas hydro-cooling technology and is set to enhance Bitdeer's mining capacity. According to the company’s August production update, mass production of SEALMINER A1 is on schedule for completion in Q4 2024 and is expected to add 3.4 exahashes per second (EH/s) to Bitdeer's total hashrate.

In addition to the SEALMINER rollout, Bitdeer plans to energize a 40-megawatt expansion at its Tydal site later this year. Simultaneously, a 100-megawatt capacity conversion to hydro-cooling is planned for the company's Rockdale, Texas, facility between December 2024 and February 2025.
